Mr. Golding

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the turnover for labour in the pottery industry compared with other industries studied by the National Board for Prices and Incomes.

Official statistics in respect of labour turnover relate solely to manufacturing industries. The latest figures, covering the four-week period ended 14th February, 1970, for these manufacturing industries in which pay and conditions of employment have been examined by the National Board for Prices and Incomes are as follows:

Mr. Golding

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether he will state the national average hourly earnings of males in all manufacturing industries compared with those engaged in pottery at the last available date.

Mr. Dudley Smith

The average hourly earnings of full-time adult male manual workers in all manufacturing industries at October, 1969, the latest available date, were 11s. 2.1d. compared with 10s. 4.9d. for those employed in the pottery industry.
