asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what number of persons over retirement age died in Scotland as a result of malnutrition in the year 1969; and if he will state the circumstances in each case.

Deaths from malnutrition of persons of retirement age numbered nine in 1969. The only information which is readily available about their circumstances relates to their marital status; five were widowed—3 males and 2 females—and four were single—2 males and 2 females.
