HC Deb 24 July 1970 vol 804 c247W
Mr. John E. B. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the latest estimate of nursery school places needed in the education priority areas within the urban programme; and how many places exist or are now authorised.

Mr. van Straubenzee

Over 10,000 full-time nursery places are being provided in priority areas under the first two phases of the urban programme. Proposals to provide additional places will be eligible for consideration for the third phase, submissions for which were invited last month. The response to the invitation will provide a useful indication of the number still needed.
