asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will introduce legislation to improve the National Insurance status of Members of Parliament, particularly in regard to their eligibility for unemployment and redundancy pay in the event of their losing their job, and in regard to their entitlement to earnings-related benefits; and if he will make a statement.
