HC Deb 24 July 1970 vol 804 cc308-9W
Mr. Redmond

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give an assurance that current Government restrictions will be appropriately eased for exporters needing additional credit facilities as a result of stock piling caused by the dock strike.

Mr. Higgins

The banks have been asked to give priority in their lending to finance for export transactions. I do not think that any further guidance from the authorities to the banks is called for at this stage, nor would it be appropriate for me to intervene in individual cases in matters involving banking discretion and the relation between banker and customer.
