§ Mr. Elystan Morganasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the payments currently made to farmers which will no longer be payable under the provisions of the Treaty of Rome and agreements made there-under, or in conjunction therewith, in the event of Great Britain entering the European Economic Community.
239W
§ Mr. Anthony StodartAdopting the common agricultural policy of the European Economic Community as it now stands would mean that support to agriculture would be given principally by means of import levies and market intervention instead of the deficiency payments currently made to our farmers. It is not however possible to provide a list of payments that would cease because the European Economic Community has not yet settled its policy for state aids to agriculture.
