HC Deb 23 July 1970 vol 804 cc196-7W
Mr. John

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is yet able to make an announcement about the future of the Royal Mint.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

Following a very careful review of all the relevant considerations the Government has decided that the transfer of the Royal Mint from Tower Hill to Wales should proceed. Instructions will shortly be given for the preparation of estimates and a master plan for Phase II. Decisions on the facilities to be included in Phase II will be taken as soon as possible.
