Whether, in the course of their review of policies, they will cause the 1108WA Post Office to abandon the projected scheme of postal codes, on the ground that, however scientific, it is too complicated to be memorised and is therefore unlikely to be widely used, and to adopt in its place, a simple numerical code of four or five figures such as is already successfully in operation in many countries.
§ LORD DENHAMThe form and make-up of the postal code is a management matter for the Post Office, and is not one in which my right honourable friend the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications would intervene.
