HC Deb 23 July 1970 vol 804 c206W
Mr. Longden

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assistance has been and is being given by Her Majesty's Government to the Commonwealth Expedition Comex 4; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Godber

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has maintained close contact with the organisers of Comex, which is a private venture, and has given help and advice. As in the case of expeditions in previous years we have asked our overseas posts to afford such assistance as may be necessary. The Ministry of Defence has made training facilities available at Aldershot and has arranged to transport by sea from India to Malaysia and back that part of the expedition which will be visiting Malaysia and Singapore. As in previous years Her Majesty's Government have also made a grant of £1,000 towards the expenses of Comex 4.
