HC Deb 22 July 1970 vol 804 c155W
Mr. Alexander Wilson

asked the Minister of Technology what proposals he has, in conjunction with the local authorities, to set up a sheltered workshop for disabled persons to replace the loss of the sheltered workshop in Hamilton.

Mr. Dudley Smith

Having regard to those severely disabled people in the Burgh of Hamilton for whom sheltered work is appropriate and the fact that there is already a Remploy factory at Motherwell and a local authority sheltered workshop at Wishaw, there are no plans to replace the Hamilton Crafts Workshop and this was closed because the number of employees was too small to make it a viable unit.
