Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Minister of Transport whether the Government accept Resolution No. 431 on the problem of urban traffic which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 26th January 1970; and whether they will take budgetary or legislative steps to make advanced technical solutions in the field of urban traffic move forward from the experimental stage to the stage of application.

Mr. Peyton

The Government are aware of the importance of modern technical solutions to the problems caused by urban road traffic. Various investigations are under way, but the move from experiment to practical application will depend on their outcome.
