§ 64. Mr. Dalyellasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what proposals he has to combat condensation in new houses.
§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government, if he is aware of the widespread damp in new houses and flats; and if he will make regulations requiring that designs of future buildings are such as to prevent avoidable damp.
§ Mr. ChannonAdvice on measures needed to limit condensation in new dwellings was published in April in a handbook on condensation. The Building Regulations already lay down requirements for the protection of buildings from penetrating and rising damp as well as for ventilation and thermal insulation. These provide some protection against condensation and damp, but avoidance76W of condensation depends as much on how buildings are used as on how they are designed and constructed.
