HC Deb 21 July 1970 vol 804 c106W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the extra cost of providing a pension of £4 for a single person and £2 2s. for an adult dependant to people covered in the National Insurance (Old Persons' and Widows' Pensions and Attendance Allowance) Bill.

Mr. Dean

The extra cost over that of the pensions to be provided at the rates in Clause 1 of the Bill would be about £5 million gross in the first full year, or about half that after allowing for savings on supplementary benefit.
