§ Mr. Proudfootasked the Minister of Transport if he will take steps to complete the M62 and M18 to Humberside; and at what stage his plans are at present, in view of their economic importance to industrial Yorkshire.
§ Mr. Michael HeseltinePreparatory work is proceeding for this purpose. The contract for the Hatfield-Thorne section of the M18 is due to be let shortly. Proposals for the route of the M62 from Rawcliffe to Balkholme have been published, and it is hoped to publish proposals for the Ferrybridge-Rawcliffe section later this year. The standard of road improvements east of Balkholme and on South Humberside is the subject of current studies.
