Whether at the annual meeting of the I.M.F. in September they will take up the question of providing aid to the poorer countries by means of an extra allocation of Special Drawing Rights.

My Lords, the general question of liquidity creation and development aid will no doubt be raised during the I.M.F./I.B.R.D. Annual Meeting in September. Considerable dis- cussion has already taken place on this matter, both within and outside the international organisations concerned, and particularly in the UNCTAD. This will for the moment be the most appropriate forum for any further detailed examination of the case for such a link and for possible forms which it might take.
