HC Deb 21 July 1970 vol 804 c99W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will undertake that wherever possible all announcements concerning departmental changes, Government policy and other changes affecting Government administration and political decisions will be made before the House of Commons adjourns for the Summer Recess.

The Prime Minister

I have said that I expect to make a statement about the machinery of Government in the Autumn. In general, as I told the hon. Gentleman on 9th July, whenever announcements are to be made about important Government decisions Ministers will, so far as possible, ensure that Parliament is informed in the most appropriate way and at the earliest opportunity. Where practicable this is being done before the Summer Adjournment. [Vol. 803, c.94–5.]
