HC Deb 20 July 1970 vol 804 c53W
Mr. Robert Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the full-year cost of providing full benefit to those 400,000 people on retirement or widows' pension who do not receive full benefit because they are deficient in contributions.

Mr. Dean

The gross cost would be about £26 million a year, but there would be a consequential reduction of about £9 million in the cost of supplementary benefit.
