HC Deb 20 July 1970 vol 804 cc49-50W
Mr. Golding

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will take action against the growth of illegal radio transmission; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Chataway

Every effort is made to stop illegal transmissions. Sixty-four illegal broadcasting stations were caught in 1969 and 42 in the first six months of 1970. Ninety-eight of the offenders have been successfully prosecuted under the Wireless Telegraphy Acts and the remainder are awaiting prosecution.
