Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons during the latest year for which the figures are available, received discretionary grants from the Supplementary Benefits Commission on account of severe disability at the rates of £4 or more per week, £3 to £3 19s. 11d. per week, £2 to £2 19s. 11d. per week, £1 to £1 19s. 11d. per week and up to 19s. 11d. per week respectively.

Information about the number of weekly exceptional circumstances additions made by the Commission is not subdivided by reference to disability. The latest available figures, for November, 1969, of the total additions made for all purposes to all categories of claimants, over and above any long-term addition in payment, is as follows:
