HC Deb 20 July 1970 vol 804 cc14-5W
Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he is aware of the danger and inconvenience caused by the present state of the Wolfscastle Bridge on the A40 trunk road between Haverfordwest and Fishguard, which is at present taking single-line traffic only under automatic signal control; and how long the repairs to it will take;

(2) if he will take steps to speed up the work of repair to the Wolfscastle Bridge on the A40 trunk road between Haverfordwest and Fishguard.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I appreciate that there is some inconvenience but single lane working is an essential safety precaution in view of the poor condition of the present bridge. I am urgently preparing a scheme to provide a new and wider bridge. Construction should start later this year and is expected to take about twelve months to complete.
