Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether the Government accept Resolution No. 446 on the situation in the Mediterranean and the Middle East which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 22nd April, 1970, so far as British interests are concerned.

Mr. Godber

We remain determined to uphold security in the Mediterranean area. We look forward to a settlement of the Arab/Israel dispute based on Security Council Resolution 242 of November, 1967. Many of the ideas contained in Resolution No. 446 of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe are acceptable to us.
