§ Mr. Moneyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will reconsider the decision to run down the provision of the mass X-ray service.
§ Sir K. JosephI endorse the guidance issued by my predecessor to hospital authorities on this service, which was established for detecting tuberculosis. This purpose no longer justifies its retention except for particular groups of people at risk. I am advised that it is not suitable for population screening for other chest disorders.
