HC Deb 15 July 1970 vol 803 c233W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take steps to prohibit all imports to which pest control chemicals have been applied which are not allowed to be used in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

No. The consumer of imported food is safeguarded by the provisions of the Food and Drugs Act, 1955, and the Imported Food Regulations, 1968. The voluntary restrictions on pesticide uses in the United Kingdom do not make home-produced food uncompetitive with imports.
