HC Deb 15 July 1970 vol 803 c227W
Mr. Bidwell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he proposes to lift the general restriction of entry of male fiancés of Commonwealth citizens into this country, in view of the proposal to introduce alien terms of entry;

(2) if he proposes to raise the entry age of children of Commonwealth citizens working in this country to the higher age applicable in the case of aliens;

(3) if he proposes to take steps to allow dependants of Commonwealth citizens working in the United Kingdom to enter the country at age 60 years or over as in the case of aliens.

Mr. Sharples

I would ask the hon. Member to await the legislation promised in the Gracious Speech, but I would point out that the rules for the admission of children are already the same in all essentials for aliens and Commonwealth citizens.
