§ Mr. BryanSet out below are the average percentage increases in men's basic wage rates between 1st January, 1951, and 31st December, 1969, for each of the listed manual occupations:
These figures do not of course correspond to increases in earnings in these occupations. For full-time male teachers in grant-aided schools and establishments in England and Wales it is estimated that over the period 31st March, 1950, to 31st December, 1969, average earnings rose by 241 per cent.
