HC Deb 14 July 1970 vol 803 c175W
Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to provide for witness summonses in magistrates' courts in London to be applied for and issued at the Crown Office as an alternative to personal application at the magistrates' court by a party desirous of calling a witness.

Mr. Carlisle

Rule 88 of the Magistrates' Courts Rules, 1968, allows applications for a witness summons to be made in writing to the clerk of a magistrates' court for submission to a justice of the peace.
