HC Deb 14 July 1970 vol 803 c165W
Mr. Parry

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if, in view of the fact that the Liverpool City Council has increased council house rents three times in the last three years, he will give an assurance that he will restrict the maximum yearly increase in council house rents to those already in force.

Mr. Channon

Under present legislation, local authorities can increase council house rents without my right hon. Friend's agreement by an average of 7s. 6d. a week and a maximum of 10s. a week in any 52-week period.
