HC Deb 14 July 1970 vol 803 cc174-5W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he accepts the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on the Fire Service and what timetable he has for consulting interested parties.

Mr. Sharples

My right hon. Friend welcomes the report of the committee and is most grateful to Sir Ronald Holroyd and his colleagues for the ability and thoroughness with which they discharged an onerous task. Their 200 findings, covering a wide range of organisational and technical matters, will require careful study. Approaches have been made to interested parties on methods of consultation, and my right hon. Friend hopes that considered views will begin to emerge by the autumn.
