HC Deb 14 July 1970 vol 803 c169W
Mr. David Clark

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make brucellosis in animals a notifiable disease.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

No. There is no ready way of recognising the symptoms of brucellosis, and it would, therefore, be unrealistic to require owners to notify the disease.

Mr. David Clark

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he proposes to continue the policy for the eradication of brucellosis as outlined in the Annual Review White Paper Command Paper No. 4321, 1970; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave yesterday to Questions by the hon. and learned Member for Montgomery (Mr. Hooson) and my hon. Friend the Member for Torrington (Mr. Peter Mills).—[Vol. 803, c.142–4.]
