HC Deb 13 July 1970 vol 803 c118W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Minister of Technology what discussions have taken place between the furniture manufacturers and retailers under his sponsorship, as recommended by the National Board for Prices and Incomes in their Report on Retail Mark-up on Furniture; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ridley

Report number 97 of the National Board for Prices and Incomes suggested that furniture retailers should consider undertaking initiatives with manufacturers, backed by the offer of expert assistance and finance, with a view to inducing greater specialisation in furniture production. This seems to be a matter for the individual retailers and manufacturers. The Ministry has not been asked by either to assist in discussions.
