asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the extra cost of providing full retirement pension rights to persons classified in the National Insurance (Old Persons' and Widows' Pensions and Attendance Allowance) Bill.

About £24 million gross in the first full year, or about £12 million net of savings on supplementary benefit, compared with £14 million and £7 million, respectively, for the pensions to be provided under Clause 1 of the Bill.
