§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what management surveys have been carried out on the use of medical manpower in the hospital service; and what studies are proposed for the near future.
§ Mr. AlisonMajor studies have included the report of the Joint Working Party on Medical Staffing Structure in the Hospital Service and the first report of the Joint Working Party on the Organisation of Medical Work in Hospitals. Much additional related information is available from Hospital Activity Analysis, Hospital In-patient Enquiry and regular statistical returns. Many individual studies bearing on this question are also carried out both by my Department and other bodies. Detailed work is being undertaken in connection with current discussions about a possible new career structure.
