HC Deb 08 July 1970 vol 803 c76W
Mr. Geraint Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether, in view of the damage recently sustained by the Menai railway bridge and the increase in traffic on the Menai road bridge, he will order an immediate re-examination of all existing and proposed road routes between the English border and Holyhead.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The road programme in all parts of Wales is kept continually under review. Substantial improvements have recently been made to the main A55 Chester to Bangor road and other improvements are already programmed. All other trunk roads to north-west Wales are also being improved. A major traffic survey is to begin this month to provide a basis for consideration of a possible new road crossing of the Menai Straits.
