§ 66. Sir D. Walker-Smithasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the decision not to confirm the Duke Street, Hoddesdon, Improvement Side Roads Order has caused concern in Hoddesdon; and if he will review the position to ensure an alleviation of present traffic congestion and inconvenience to residents of Middlefield Road, Hoddesdon.
§ Mr. Michael HeseltineI am aware of concern in Hoddesdon at the decision not to confirm this Order. A review of the position showed no satisfactory way of relieving traffic conditions in Middlefield Road in advance of construction of the Hoddesdon By-Pass, work on which should start within the next two years, subject to the completion of the statutory procedures and the availability of funds.
