HC Deb 07 July 1970 vol 803 c35W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that there is sufficient capacity for the treatment of mental patients in relevant hospitals in the South-West; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

Waiting lists of mental illness beds in the South Western Region are very small, but overcrowding in some hospitals for the mentally handicapped is severe and admissions are at present restricted as part of a programme to relieve overcrowding and improve conditions for existing patients.
