HC Deb 07 July 1970 vol 803 c34W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consideration he will give to the greater provision of four-wheeled invalid motor carriages, with a view to future elimination of the present three-wheeled carriage.

Mr. Alison

The present three-wheeled invalid vehicle cannot be eliminated because a substantial number of disabled people cannot drive a car. The cost of the further provision of cars must be considered in relation to other claims on the National Health Service including, for example, the claims of disabled people who do not qualify for a powered vehicle at all under the present rules.
