HC Deb 07 July 1970 vol 803 cc24-5W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the recent appointment as from 1st July of the Chairman of the Forestry Commission at a salary of £5,000 per annum; why a salary of this amount is paid for a part-time appointment; and how many hours work per week will have to be given to this appointment.

Mr. Prior

The new chairman was appointed on the advice of the previous Administration. His salary assumes that he will give about two days a week to the work and is based on those of other part-time public appointments.
