Mr. Dell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity (1) if he will introduce legislation to strengthen the Monopolies Commission;

(2) if he will introduce legislation to create a Registrar of Monopolies and Mergers.

Mr. Bryan

We shall undertake a thorough review of all the possibilities for the future development of competition policy before making any announcements about the scope of any legislation.
