Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what he is doing in areas of shortage of science and mathematics teachers to use facilities at local technical colleges for school pupils.

Mr. Ross

The use of these facilities is a matter for the education authorities. Generally, however, there are difficulties of time-tabling. The distance of the colleges from some schools is another difficulty.
