HC Deb 28 January 1970 vol 794 c366W
81. Mr. Arthur Pearson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will consider introducing legislation to give local authorities greater control over the tipping of industrial waste of noxious chemical types into disused quarries, which give rise to the pollution of water courses and atmospheric conditions from fires and explosions.

Mr. George Thomas

A working party on the disposal of refuse, including industrial waste, and a technical committee on the disposal of toxic solid wastes have been set up by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government. The question of further action must await their reports, which are expected later this year.
