HC Deb 28 January 1970 vol 794 cc340-1W
45. Mr. Body

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is satisfied with the operation of the system of regulating horticultural trade with Eastern Europe by quotas; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

Quotas for those items subject to quantitative import restrictions are established by the Board of Trade, usually in annual discussions with the countries concerned and within limits agreed with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. I see no reason to change this procedure.

45. Mr. Body

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the mechanism for establishment and review of import quotas of sensitive horticultural products subject to trade agreements with Eastern European countries.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to him today.
