HC Deb 28 January 1970 vol 794 c351W
Sir Knox Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what progress he has made in restoring law and order in the Falls Road area of Belfast; and, in particular, what action he is taking to protect Mrs. Josephine O'Hara's newspaper stop on the Falls Road which has been broken into repeatedly.

Mr. Richard

On 14th January unaccompanied Royal Ulster Constabulary patrols re-entered the Falls Road area as part of the progressive restoration of normal policing in all parts of Northern Ireland. Both military and Royal Ulster Constabulary patrols pass the shop managed by Mrs. O'Hara by day and night. No requests for protection have been received by the security forces, but the matter being investigated on the spot and special measures will be taken if they are considered to be justified.
