HC Deb 27 January 1970 vol 794 c298W
60. Mr. David Howell

asked the Minister of Transport what consultations he held with the local road safety office in Guildford and with residents of Orchard Road, Burpham, before reaching his decision to make permanent the prohibition of vehicles making a right-hand turn into Orchard Road.

Mr. Bob Brown

No direct consultations were held, but the Guildford Borough Council no doubt had advice from its road safety officer when recommending to my right hon. Friend that he should make the experimental prohibition permanent. My right hon. Friend has also been informed by correspondence of the views of the residents of Orchard Road.

No decision will be taken until objections lodged have been considered and weighed against the merits of the scheme.
