Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) at which further education centres in North-East Scotland and in which subjects classes are available for City and Guilds Stage II Certificates in Agriculture;

(2) what steps he is taking to provide City and Guilds Stage II classes in agriculture at further education centres in North-East Scotland, pending the necessary facilities being provided at Clinterty.

It is for the education authorities concerned, either jointly or separately, to assess whether any additional provision of Stage II courses is required during the interim period, and I am ready to consider any proposals put forward to me.
