§ Mr. Denis HowellI am satisfied that rent officers and rent assessment com-310W mittees are properly determining fair rents in accordance with the principles laid down in the Rent Act, 1965 (now the Rent Act, 1968). A committee recently set up under the chairmanship of Mr. Hugh Francis, Q.C., is inquiring into the operation of the rent regulation system, and my right hon. Friend would prefer to await its report before considering whether to make any statement.
