HC Deb 27 January 1970 vol 794 cc327-8W
Mr. Marten

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will seek to arrange for a disabled driver, who elects to buy his own car, to receive the same maintenance allowance as a disabled driver who has a Ministry invalid vehicle.

Dr. John Dunwoody

Most disabled drivers with officially issued vehicles do not receive maintenance allowances. Such allowances are limited to those who are issued with motor-cars because they are war-pensioners or because of other special circumstances. A person eligible for a motor-car but who elects to buy his own already qualifies for a maintenance allowance.
