asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many widows aged between 50 and 60 years of age are still in receipt of the 30s, pension only; and how many under 50 years of age are in the same category.

There are about 52,000 widow's basic pensions in payment to widows aged between 50 and 60 and about 23,000 to widows under 50.
