HC Deb 26 January 1970 vol 794 cc286-7W
Mr. William Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will request the Welsh Economic Council to examine the potential and implications of the development of the mining of ore in Wales and the potential and implications of the exploitation of oil and natural gas, and make its report available to enable planning authorities to assess the value of applications by mining developers to their community.

Mr. George Thomas

The Welsh Office and other Government Departments already keep a close watch on developments of this nature. It is open to planning authorities to seek expert advice where they think this is necessary in order to deal with particular planning applications.
