§ Dr. Summerskillasked the Minister of Technology whether he will take steps to end the employment of ponies underground in mines.
Mr. Alan WilliamsThe National Coal Board tells me that by the end of the next financial year all ponies will be withdrawn, with the exception of a small number in collieries where the expected life of the colliery would not justify capital expenditure on new haulage equipment.
