HC Deb 26 January 1970 vol 794 c275W
105. Mr. Mawby

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he is satisfied that the use of low-power medium-wave transmitters for local radio stations will give an effective service without interfering with others using the same wavelength; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Stonehouse

Yes.

106. Mr. Mawby

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications whether he is satisfied that an effective service will be given from local radio stations by using medium wavelengths already allocated to the British Broadcasting Corporation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Stonehouse

Yes. The medium frequencies already used by the B.B.C., which will be redeployed to provide support for the V.H.F. transmissions of the local radio stations will provide an effective service at least during daylight.
